Britain’s Next Top Model Live
Most of you probably know about the successful TV show Britain’s Next Top Model, fronted by gorgeous topmodel Elle McPherson. Well, last weekend was the large-scale and fun celebration Britain’s Next Top Model Live at the Excel Centre, the ultimate event for fashion, shopping, beauty and entertainment. Motorola Flipout was sponsoring the event, and as you know, I have already collaborated with their fab team on a campaign – see here and here. I had the chance to work with them again as a stylist on this event, styling models and introducing their outfits on a catwalk stage.
Matthew Zorpas & I worked as a team once again, styling our two gorgeous models Greta Bellamacina and Sabina Emrit in a high fashion spirit, by mixing classic luxury with young creative and edgy designers. Presenting with us were the other members of the fab stylists’ team: glam Frankie Murray and Natasha Baillie focusing on vintage, and lovelies Reena Rai and Jenny Hayden on high street – see their own reports on their blogs.
Matthew & I wanted to turn the geek-chic idea into something not too literal by keeping it very high-luxe, while using FW10 trends. We dressed our girls in a mix of London Haus of Gaga generation Ada Zanditon and Katie Hamilton, while adding some megabranded designer accessories such as Louis Vuitton and Rupert Sanderson. The geek touch was hinted with Mad Men ladylike purse, kitten sandals, below-the-knee lengths, gloves and grown-up up hairdos.
Finally we couldn’t help but make some geeky cross-cultural references all along, from the experimental sculptures of great artist Anish Kapoor, to the pyramids of Egypt, all with a retro-futuristic feel.
If the girls wore shades of deep fuchsia, bronze and orange, we, as stylists, kept it simple and elegant with classic black and crystal jewellery by Marc Jacobs and Jenny Packham for me, and a highly-complimented ensemble by J.W.Anderson worn to perfection by the ever-so-stylish Matthew.
If you missed the event, catch up here with the video, where you can see me getting all excited about our work!
I would like to take the time to thank the fantastic team at Motorola, JCPR, and BNTM Live who made this happen, and the excellent team of stylists, bloggers, models, hair and make-up artists, photographer, presenter Emma Willis and anyone who turned up for the event. Merci!
