Nicole Farhi AW11
Nicole Farhi was presenting her new collection for next winter at the Royal Opera House this week. Her very convincing wardrobe was made of super-luxe sharp navy blue capes, graphic white shirts, belted black calfskin gilets, jersey high-waisted trousers, crinkle lamé dresses and finished by a pleated full-length skirt.
But the strength of the collection was in the jackets and coats, where innovative techniques were used for the fabrics with laminated boiled wool, structured gabardine, bonded herringbone, pressed melton, fused cable-knit and matelassé. The tones used were perfectly appropriate for the perfect investment pieces of colder days and those already bored of the colourblock trends, with timeless navy blue, black, grey and écru, and a touch of red here and there.
This is the editor’s perfect wardrobe if you live in London. Workwear? Check. Luxe? Check. Warm? Check. Beautiful, investment, Go-with-everything-basics? Check, check, check.
