Mary Katrantzou AW11
Mary Katrantzou was showing this morning at the Topshop Space – and it was unquestionably her best collection yet.
Using her signature prints, the Greek designer introduced new silhouettes, with long floaty skirts, corseted tops, exaggerated hips and structured minidresses that embrace the woman form. Dramatic, yet wearable cuts with sensual designs.
As for the prints themselves, Mary was inspired by precious Objets d’arts this season: Coromandel screens, Fabergé eggs, Qianlong Dynasty china or Meissen porcelain. More than the objects themselves, she took inspiration from ‘fantasies about the lives, travels and precious objects of the women who owned them, such as Babe Paley, Diana Vreeland or the Duchess of Windsor’.
The finishing touch to these stunning looks? Christian Louboutin ankle boots made bespoke with the gorgeous signature prints and lined with pearls. Undoubtedly one of my favourite collection this week.
